2008 PINOT PLUS AUCTION FUNDS SCHOLARSHIPS, EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG WINE PROFESSIONALS AND PROVIDES SEED MONEY FOR NEW ENVIRONMENTAL FOUNDATION
The Carneros Wine Alliance is pleased to announce that proceeds from its second annual Pinot Plus Auction will benefit the education and training of early stage wine and food professionals and also provide seed money for the new Carneros Land Stewardship Foundation. Funds from the Auction, held March 31st, 2008 at The Carneros Inn, will be distributed as follows:
- Five scholarships to The Guild of Sommelier’s Education Foundation for Advanced Sommelier students, one from each of five regions. Applicants must be working sommeliers.
- Up to 10 scholarships to Cru Carneros, the harvest immersion program of the Carneros Wine Alliancewhere the region’s vintners and growers host members of the new generation of wine and food professionals in their vineyards, wine cellars and homes each year in a hands-on professional development harvest experience.
- Seed money for the new Carneros Land Stewardship Foundation, dedicated to the conservation and preservation of habitat in the San Pablo Bay wetlands adjacent to the Carneros region.
“We are delighted that the second year of the auction was embraced by our auction attendees enabling us to meet our goals in providing scholarship and educational opportunities for early stage wine and food professionals,” said Anne Moses, owner/partner, Patz & Hall. “We appreciate the support for our initiatives and for the wineries of the Carneros Wine Alliance.”
